Are you curious about the diverse world of fungi? Do you enjoy exploring lush forests and learning about different types of mushrooms? Whether you are a seasoned forager or a curious newbie, NMA offers a welcoming community with a shared passion for learning and promoting the conservation of fungal biodiversity.
- Become part of a community that shares a common interest – Join us as we venture together into the world of fungi! By joining, you are supporting the research and development of mycology!
- Events and presentations – Attendance at the monthly meetings which often have noted mycological speakers. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of April, May, and June and September, October, and November.
- Forays – Invitations to numerous field outings held each spring and autumn where members meet in select locations. Forays are generally scheduled on the Saturday following member meetings (second Saturday of the month). The areas are chosen for likely mushroom activity. Experienced members share their knowledge of mushroom ID, habitat, and habits with those new to the study of fungi. Current NMA members receive email announcements of all forays as soon as they are scheduled.
- Classes – An invitation to register for these low cost classes offered in the spring or fall. Identification classes are taught by some of our skillful identifiers; they teach basic mushroom identification tools and techniques. We also offer cultivation classes, cooking classes and natural dyeing classes from time to time.
- Wild Mushroom Show – A full day of fungi held each fall. Exhibits, presentations, vendor booths, and so much more! Members who volunteer several hours to help with our Wild Mushroom Show will be able to attend the show for free.
- The Survivors Banquet / Annual Meeting – An invitation to this event held each spring, which is a celebration of our community!
We invite you!
